Deep Breath

Just got a call from our Oncologist. She is going to put a port (this link shows how a port is put in but just as a disclaimer it is on a breast cancer site so the drawing has breasts) in tomorrow and he is going to have to have a bone marrow exam/extraction. They will take fluid from the spinal cord to make sure the "poison", as we are calling it right now, has not spread. Luckily all of this is surgery so he will be sedated and not remember a thing. We will then sit down and discuss the treatment plans for my baby boy, and she will explain the diagnosis in detail. She said we are probably looking to about 6 month to a year of treatment depending on how the tumor reacts. I haven't told Spence yet that he won't be going back to school this year because this will break his heart. He loves school, especially his wonderful "boy teacher" Mr. Davis, who has been such an inspiration to him. We will continue to collect his homework and maybe even give him some spelling tests. LUCKILY, Spencer is so smart that I don't have to worry about him skipping all of this school. His reading and spelling levels are above average and he is a "mean" time teller! Thank you for all of your support!
