UH-MAZE-ING

I don't even know how to begin this post. I want to start by saying that Facebook CAN do good. Right before Christmas an old family friend of ours found me on FB. I knew her when I was 15 years old. She had been a single mom struggling to get through school with a darling five year old. My mom watched sweet little Makayla during the day while her mom, Gina, went to school and worked. I got to be her babysitter on the weekends. It has been 16 years since I have seen Gina or Makayla and I was only a little girl myself, and Gina happened to find me right before our life changed last month. It turns out that Gina's son has struggled with his health and that she knows the heartache I am going through as a mom. I cannot even begin to explain all of the support she and her family have given us in this whirlwind month. She is an angel. She is an angel on this earth that the Lord has given to watch over our family and give us the support we need to lift us up during the low times. Gina and her family, Jeff, Chance, Delaney, Makayla, Joshua and Brooklyn have organized TEAM SPENCER L.A. They live in Southern California have created an amazing support group for our Spencer. On Monday, a bad day for Spencer, we received a BIG FREAKING package. The kids were so excited just to see the outside of the box all decorated and colored with their names on it! The best part of this "support" was Spencer opening up his iPod Touch, from these angels. It may seem weird to associate materialistic things with angels but my baby boy has changed his whole outlook on life because he has this little piece of happiness that can fit in his palm. He didn't mind radiation today because he knew he had his iPod to come back to when he was done. It is seriously the cutest thing ever. I am so thankful to this family and all of their friends and family that donated to this awesome package and have become part of TEAM SPENCER. You all are amazing people with so much love in your souls. We love you so much and hope to meet all of you someday. I want you to know Stevens family that when he opened his Touch he was shocked. There is a video on the bottom of this post and you can't always tell his expressions because of his lack of facial movement, but he was almost crying. I couldn't get the video to flip the right way so you have to turn your head to watch it.

That is so nice..To even be able to help him thru his day..And I'm sure it helps all of your family to see him happy..There is nothing better then to look into a child smiling face. For just a little while is better then none at all...My god bring you more Angels....Always thinking and praying for you.....Still praying down south

  4. You do not know me, in fact we have never met but my daughter Kaitlyn is in Spencer's class. She just started at the school when they went back on track in January and sat right next to him for two weeks. She brought this blog home and reads it often. She knows all about Spencer and does not hestitate to keep everyone in the family updated. I just wanted to tell you that you are an inspiration to me. I saw you at the post office on Monday night when you picked up the package from your CA friends. You were behind me in the huge line, upset that you left your driver's license in the car and that you may not be able to get the package. The clerk called anyone forward that was just picking up packages and gave you the package no questions asked. I realized as you were walking away who you were from the notes on the package and wanted to give you a big hug and let you know what an inspiration you are to me and all mothers. I don't know if I could continue to be a mother, sister, friend, or wife with this kind of news but in reading your blog I realize that you are still all of those and more. You are very strong and I will continue to keep you and your family in my prayers.
