Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma

This is the the confirmed biopsy result. Our family, especially my little Spence, is about to embark on the hardest journey of our lives. Please do not do too much internet research. The information is not all accurate and is very basic. Each case is so different that it is hard to get correct information because it is so generalized. As we learn more we will be able to inform and update all of you. We have an appointment with the oncologist on Thursday and we will be able to discuss the rarity of the tumor cells and the aggressiveness of the treatment. We are so thankful to all of you for your prayers, treats, meals, and love and ask you to continue to pray and be patient with us as we still need your service. I am filled with much peace and your prayers are tangible.

  3. Thank you for the update...I check for them frequently. I don't know that a minute has gone by since Friday, that I haven't been thinking about you guys. Parker has been asking about Spencer and always remembers to pray for him. Please let me know what we can do to help you guys out.

  5. I am thankful for this blog and know that you and Spencer will be too. Maybe it's because our boys are only a year apart and have played together a bit, but this news has been emotional for me and I'm glad I can check in and see what's going on and feel your hope and faith and extend mine too. We've been praying for you and Owen is very curious and concerned. Wish we were closer to offer more tangible help. But then prayers are about the best help one can give, right?! You're a good Mom Hollie!

  7. We have been thinking of your family since we heard the news. We will continue to pray for Spencer and your family. My son is almost 8 as well and your situation is hard for me to understand how such a young sweet boy has to deal with such a grown up thing. I am sorry! Whatever we can do please let us know.

  8. I came upon your site when doing some rhabdo research. My son Mike was diagnosed 13 months ago with stage 4 aveolar rhabdo. He was 16 when we found out. Mike responded well to the chemo and radiation. In december he had his final treatment scans and they found no evidence of disease. He is almost 18 now, and was accepted to Carnegie Melon University.Mike was treated at Johns Hopkins. They have come a long way with treatment. I hope for the best outcome for Spence. If you want to contact me I'm at argioia@comcast.net
