MRI's and Movies

So some of you may know from Facebook but for those of you who don't, we recently had our evaluation MRI. Spencer has now been through eight weeks of treatment and so it is time to check things out. The MRI was as Riverton Hospital thankfully since we were scheduled for 6:30 a.m! The walls there were awesome. They had these vibrant murals of the ocean. It made the morning a little less stressful. We talked to the nurses about Chick-Fil-A day (which I am in the process of blogging) and Lolly Bags. It reminded me once again how lucky we are to have the friends we have! Spence was sedated and quickly fell asleep and went in for the MRI. The recovery room there was so nice and there was only one other patient there (sooo doing the rest of our imaging there)! He started to wake up from his sedation and the tech came in saying he needed to go in again because they needed more images of the optic nerve. He was not very happy but they gave him some Versed to calm him down instead of re-sedating him. He did well. The nurses were so awesome and were excited to meet Spence because friends of theirs had been talking about him. So cool! WELL now the exciting news! WE just learned a couple of days ago that the tumor has indeed shrunk! YAY! When Dr. Bruggers gave us the report when we went in for chemo this week she said "this is a very good report." When we went into radiation today, Dr. Thomson, the radiologist told us that there is very low risk of damage now to the pituitary gland and and optic nerve. He told Spence that when he saw the x-ray he jumped up and down. He said the tumor has rescinded significantly from these problem areas. We only have four radiation sessions left! The tumor is still pressing up against his skull but there is no spread to the brain! Yay! I am so thankful to all of you for all of your prayers. We are only in week 8 of 54 and we are already seeing results. I now ask all of you to pray with us for the tumor to pull away from the skull and meniges. Today was a little traumatic at radiation. You have heard about how he is locked down to the bed by hooking the mask to the table. Well, I was sitting outside and the techs came running into the room. "He is throwing up, you can come in" they said. Poor, poor little guy! He was screaming and crying. He couldn't get up and they ran as fast as they could to get him out. His nose was burning from the acid. He was so shaken up and the techs were so sad for him. They let us reschedule for the last part of the day and we went home to rest. He has been eating really well, better than he has been and he seems like a normal boy besides his feeding tube and bald head. For the moment we are happy. I am trying not to think about how we may start back at square one after this yucky chemo treatment next week. But for now we are having movie night, watching "Happily N'Ever After", eating fresh popped corn, and laughing at Gavin and his silliness. I might even be able to sleep tonight. I love my family.
